I’m sure some of you have seen the news about Silverstone potentially being sold to JLR on the front page for a cool £25 million.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

So what if the former Top Gear trio (and amazon) were to buy it instead? They’d have a test track again. They could even host the show out of the paddock’s garages. The Stig could even live in one of the Parc Ferme garages. They could even host F1 drivers in the same hypercar to let them battle each other. See who’s really the fastest in the same exact car. Then host the race track out to BTCC, DTM, WEC and F1 to cover the cost of the maintenance of the track.

Besides, what could be more of a fuck you to the BBC than having an actual F1 track to replace the old Top Gear Test Track?

Well, if the track is going broke from hosting F1 races, even if the TG team could afford it, I doubt they would after a few GPs held there.

The unfortunate part of that plan is that hosting the races as a solution for covering costs won't work. That's why all of this is happening in the first place.

Well see, the TG team would have revenue from their aired episodes. That alone should cover the hosting fees for F1. Not sure how the hosting fees for DTM, BTCC and WEC work. They could even air DTM, BTCC and WEC on Amazon Prime to bring in revenue to cover people costs.

Yes, but they would have the revenue from airing their episodes wouldn’t they? They could even air BTCC, WEC and DTM on Amazon Prime for a commercial free pay-per-view like service.

Revenue from episodes likely goes towards paying the people involved in making the show and budgeting for the next season.

As for airing the racing on a pay per view service: it wouldn't work. Their audience would go way down. That's not how you grow a sport or a network/stream service.

Not really a fuck you since they still have a private track which doesn’t bleed money which allows them to make whatever content they want whenever they want to.

I was talking more in terms of US coverage since Fox does such a horrendous job. They would still keep the Eurosport or equivalent feed for everywhere else ideally.

I still think it would take a huge chunk of their profits away, I don’t think it would be worth it for them if they could.
